history

Locanda Bortolino Hostel is a two-storey house entirely dedicated to the accommodation of its guests. During your stay, you will experience its simple and friendly hospitality.

The charm of this old house, once hosting military engineers, is part of the pleasure of the stay. Locanda Bortolino Hostel is located at the crossroads of two waterways and the provinces of Parma, Mantova e Reggio Emilia, famous for their history and artistic and natural beauties.

You will breathe the atmosphere and experience the uniqueness of a natural place, which made the history together with the men who have lived here for more than one hundred years.

activities

You can choose from an interesting variety of outdoor activities: cycling routes, boat rental and donkey ridings. Everything is easily reachable from the hostel. The hostel and the restaurant will provide you with the brochures of the agencies and associations responsible for the organisation of these activities.

In the surrounding areas, you will have the chance to visit historical and artistic sites, such as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sabbioneta and Mantova; Suzzara and Guastalla, where the Italian director and screenwriter Bernardo Bertolucci filmed Novecento; and the town of Brescello, famous for being the set for the Italian film series of Peppone and Don Camillo.

The area also offers natural beauties, such as the nature reserves of Parco del Mincio and Parco dell’Oglio Sud, just to mention a few.

Antonio Silva, a famous journalist who worked for La Repubblica and Il Sole 24 Ore, wrote about us on foglieviaggi.cloud (article available in Italian only).
